Common Interview Questions for an Electrician

Below are some of the most common interview questions for an electrician. While they may not all come up over the course of a job interview, there is a good chance that more than a few of them will.
Keep in mind that some questions will be specially related to your work as an electrician, while others may be more general job related questions.
Answering these questions can easily mean the difference between whether or not you get the job and you should be prepared to answer them in the event that they do come up.
1)How are you qualified for this job? The interviewer wants to be sure that you have the necessary qualifications to perform the job that they are hiring for. Answer the question by mentioning your education, certification and, if it exists, past job experience related to electrical work.
2)Do you specialize in any specific areas of electrical work? This one can tie into your qualifications and will highlight any specific areas in which you have become an expert. Some electricians specialize in things like wiring and electrical systems while others have focused on more generalized areas .
3) Why do you want to work as an electrician?€“ This common interview question for an electrician is geared more towards people who may be new to the field. The interviewer's aim here is to determine your level of interest and find out what your motivations are.
4) What interests you about this particular aspect of the field?  This question may come up in regards to whether the job is in residential, commercial or industrial work. Be prepared to explain why you prefer to work in one aspect over others.
These are some of the common interview questions for an electrician but there are also a number of common questions that can be asked of people looking for work as an electrician as well as people seeking work in a number of industries.
5)  Why are you leaving your current job?  You may be asked this question if the interviewer sees that you are currently employed. Avoid negative comments towards co-workers and supervisors. Instead, try to focus on job related reasons for wanting to leave your current job.
6) What kind of salary are you looking for?€“ Be honest about your expectations for pay. In order to prepare for this question, try researching how much money others in the industry make and adjust your own expectations accordingly.
7) Why should I hire you?€“ This is an opportunity to sell yourself and say anything that was missed over the course of the interview and, you feel may be important. Avoid using cliched terms like "€œhard-working"€ and try for something unique. Make the interviewer really remember you.
Remember that while job training can help you learn the right skills and placement can help you get an interview, it's up to you to show that your skills can do.
