"There was an online form with the usual questions about your background and then three interview questions. Next was a phone interview for which I did lots of research about the company and prepared the standard interview questions. I remember that the questions were not the usual type though not particularly unusual. Lastly was an assessment centre, which consisted of a team-working exercise where six of us built a bridge using paper cups and sheets. The aim is to show how well you plan your activities and work together, rather than whether your structure is sound. My advice is to remember to plan your presentation at the end of the activity and not concentrate wholly on the building on the bridge. We also completed individuals presentations on a company that had turned itself around in the previous 5 years to a director and an HR representative. We did not have long to prepare - I think less than a week - so my advice is not to spend to long picking a company but proceed with planning and writing the presentation. I practiced with my manager at the time which was very useful as he pointed out some holes and suggested some questions that might be asked. Lastly, I had a one-hour interview with the MD and an HR representative. These were the usual interview questions and there was nothing asked to try and trip me up. I heard the results of the assessment centre the next day and learned that I had been successful."
